ClickBoard Mounting Roof Extensions
Installation sequence for roof extensions
When there are several walls to be covered (e.g. with complete roof extensions) we ask that you stick to the following installation sequence: For installations using the System of HDF-Profiles (fastening rail) Walls; jam walls; roof angle; ceiling.
For installations using the System of Finishing Seals (corner cramps) Walls; roof angle; jam walls; ceiling.
It is important here that every step, starting with the mounting of the sub-structure up to the final installation of the ClickBoard panels, is being completed for one area before you can start working on the next. Depending on your individual situation, please also refer to this books’ chapters on lightweight construction wall and ceiling applications. The installation procedure for a roof extension is different from the installation procedures described earlier only in the connection from pitched roof area to ceiling and from pitched roof area to a wall.
1a. Roof extension with fastening rail
In the pitched roof area the jam wall is the first area to be planked with ClickBoard. First of all the fastening rail is mounted right and left with connection to the wall (ClickBoard-wall). The longitudinal measurement for the ClickBoard-panels that will cover the jam wall is the distance between the floor and the pitched roof area minus 6 mm. After finishing the jam wall the pitched roof area is next to be planked. The fastening rails are screwed right and left onto the sub-structure. A horizontal fastening rail mounted with screws between jam wall and pitched roof area is next. To achieve a perfect fit with the HDF-profile we recommend using an installation aid. The installation aid and instructions on how to use it can be found on page page 31. After the fastening rail has been mounted between jam wall and pitched roof area, we continue on planking the wall surface. The ClickBoard panels can be positioned directly onto the fastening rail. The length of the ClickBoard-panels is once again the result of the measured distance between fastening rail and ceiling sub-structure minus 6 mm. After that, for planking the ceiling follow the instructions provided in the chapter "Installation instructions Ceiling". For the connection Ceiling – pitched roof area use the Universal Profile as a boundary fixation.
1b. Roof extension with corner cramps
Screw the first base plates of the corner cramps with a maximum distance of 20 cm all along the sides of the ClickBoard area that is to be installed, all around openings and below the pitched roof area. Insert the spacer brackets on both the longitudinal and short-end sides of the first row. The corner cramps above the jam wall are going to be put in only after the pitched roof area has been planked.
2. Planking the jam wall with corner cramps
Before you start planking the jam wall, the corner cramps that serve for mounting the finishing seals need to be put in above the installation area. Use base plates and a remnant (approx. 40 cm long) of that particular type of seal for the exact positioning of the cramps. Put the remnant onto the base plate, position it flush with the already installed pitched roof area and make a mark through the base plate’s drill hole. Stability permitting, ClickBoard may be installed directly onto the jam wall. For the next step, the planking of the jam wall, please refer to and follow the instructions for installing a lightweight construction wall see pages 16-21).
3. Mounting the HDF-Profiles/ Finishing seals
Once the installation of the ClickBoard panels in the roof area is finished, the required HDF-profiles/ finishing seals are cut to length and inserted into the Corner cramps/ Base track.
